  • UK Weather - Cold & Damp - Poss. Probs ?

    As title really,

About to install my CarPC and was a little concerned about temps and so on. Is condensation a problem in CarPC's, or is it treat the same as normal car audio equipment.

Do I need to do anything to prevent temps/Cold effecting my CarPC at all. The main system will be in the boot BTW.

Any help and advice would be great. I have searched and read about certain hard drive's not liking the cold but thats about all I could find...

    Regards

Moisture isnt too much of a problem as long as you have at least one case fan in the system, and the area where you keep your computer is somewhat moisture-free. For example, the trunk in my current car gets a little damp, probably because of a bad seal, so the system stays in cockpit with me. Right now it's mounted behind the passenger seat. As for condensation, there really isnt too much to worry about, since most PC components are epoxy-sealed, and hard drives are protected against it in the first place (although about 7 years ago, they weren't!)

As for temps, I have run mine in below-zero weather, and in temperatures above 100deg F in the car in the summer. Both conditions seemed to be completely inconsequential to the machine. You should be just fine as long as you make sure where you mount it stays generally dry to begin with.

    Hope that helps! Good lucK!
