  • need help with basic hookup

I need some help hooking my portable cd player up to my 2000 chevy blazer. The cd player has a button on it that says cd/aux. I saw an adapter I could use to hook up aux. devices, but I'm not sure how to use it. Here is the link to the adapter:

I was wondering if anyone could help my by explaining how I can hook this up or by telling me another easier way.

    Thanks,
    Zach

i'm not saying yes or not.. but what i think they mean are just a cd changer input in the back of your HU. If you wake it out look for a 9 pin input. Should be shapped like a rectangle I'm guessing. If you have that then this should work

So you have a portable CD player (like a Disc Man?) and you want to hooked it up to your head unit? so you can play the music from your portable CD player through your CAR stereo? is this correct?

what does the car stereo look like...what kind is it?
You said the portable CD player has a button on it? or the car stereo does....
      I'm confussed by your post!

        what i meant

I meant that the car cd player has a button on it that says cd/aux. The car player is a delco factory gm. It has auto tone. I want to hook a discman up so that I can play mp3's thru my car speakers.

Looking at the site you posted, it looks as if they are basically giving you a splice into the main harness connection, and including a switch, so you can manaully switch inputs. My guess is that with that thing conected, you won't need the AUX button on the stereo. You use the included three position switch instead.

It's not too clear how this thing connects to the stereo, but if I remember correctly, the newer Delco units had that second little port that went unused if there were no options installed (like a separate CD player). If I'm remembering correctly, then all you have to do, is connect that plug to your radio, conenct your discman (or whatever cd player it is) to one of the inputs the harness gives you, then mount the switch. To listen to music from the CD, flip the switch, and hit the tunes!
