  • Slimline CD IDE/Firewire power question.

I'd like to connect the following:

HP laptop cd/dvd -> slimline to IDE adapter -> IDE to Firewire bridge -> mobo.

I've done some searching but can't determine if the the laptop drive will receive power from the firewire bridge.

It's seems that you need to power a full size cd drive separately but I don't know if the same is required for a laptop drive.

    Thanks

The slimline to IDE adapter is where the external (PSU) power is required.

OK. I just got the adapter but it didn't come w/ any documentation.

In the picture below, is the part with the arrow get connected to a floppy power connector?

I'm assuming I got all the other parts correct.

Yeah, The one you have the arrow pointing to is for a floppy-sized molex.

the middle one isn't cd-out ... i'm pretty sure it's the jumper pins for setting master/slave/cable select ... most drives default to cable select.
