Well, for one, a 7" widescreen is pretty close to double din size, so most anyone can fit it in there. My Mustang for example would take one look at the 13", laugh and spit it back out. Just too big for a lot of people. Also the touchscreen is already there, where on your screen you would have to add it. No biggie, but additional cost and time to do it.

However, i cant say that i would recommed just jumping on the lilly bandwagon either (did that once ) Do some research and be well informed before purchasing any lcd!

          din is roughly 7" x 2"

the size of the opening in your dash for the stock radio is usually single or double din. A 7x4 opening is prety close for a 7" lilliput to be melded in.

            setup

ok that makes sense but Im not concerned with space i figured i would mount somthing like this

            http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...109059339&rd=1

then glass around it. The only problem is Ill have to lose my glove box because the screen will overlap. oh by the way i have a yukon. The reason i wanted to go with something bigger is so that i can see it while driving to select songs and whatnot. Also the passengers will be able to see it clearly from the back and i dont have to put 2"-4" headrest monitors in. Do you think a monitor like this will have problems with the sun light? or temp Hot or cold?? and help is greatly appreciated.

I wouldnt worry about the heat/cold as much as the glare issues and lack of brighness. A lot of lcds, especially when a touchscreen is overlayed, are hard to read in the daylight. If you have dark tint, you should be ok, but that is another nice thing about the lilly's and smaller lcds, they are more or less designed for car use, so they tend to be pretty bright. Also the viewing angle may not be so good, may want to check it out, cause if you maount it in the passenger side area, the driver may have a hard time reading it. All in all, a desktop monitor should be fine, if you have the room i say try it

ok as with a lot of people on here i assume I just thought about putting a pc into my car a few weeks ago, and thought i was the only on eon earth.. well I was wrong. anyway. A few years back I hooked a pc soundcard jack to rca converter from radio shack from my pc to my home amp. I only got it to play from one speaker. (1 channel) I searched and searched (Web and phone) for a sound card with 3 rca outs and counldnt find it (I run 3 amps in my truck). I was going to use a xp1800 home pc layed in the back with some extended cables. Now i just read that the soundcard jack (1/8th i think) will work if you get the adapter for stereo. Two black lines. is this correct. its very important to me to get at least 4 channels. as always any help in doing this is appreciated.

for the sound, you need to have a module to take the spdif output (one RCA which sends a digital signal 5.1 surround) and then this module decodes the digital signal and sends independent outputs for front left, right, rear left and right and subwoofer.

Check the forum, plenty of info on this

Heh...funny to click on that link and see the same PC's that my work used to use. I wonder if that auction isn't some ****ed off IT guy from my company selling off old inventory...lol

Anyways....that is an old HP EPC. They are pretty nice. Super small and not too noisey. the only major issue we ever had with them was the power supplies going out and issues with the internal speakers just randomly turning itself on.

Oh and beware that the powersupply for that thing is huge....and it is not in the PC itself...the PS is actaully another box not pictured there.

I say "Why Lilliput when there is Xenarc"

If you don't believe me, do a search for Lilliput and see all the question/comments about broken Lilliputs, bad quality etc, and then look for Xenarc.

Apart from two posts in the past day regarding 2 generation old Xenarcs, I haven't seen anything bad regarding Xenarc screens since I've been on the forum.

I can also testify to the better build and display quality of the Xenarc over the Lilliput, and so would my mate (who owns the Lilliput I've seen, and which I used in my car while I was waiting for my Xenarc) who is now saving up for a Xenarc after seeing mine!

If you've got the cash, go with Xenarc. But for me, the lower cost of the Lilliput sold me.
