  • Will This forfill my neads?

Im new to this, yet hold a STRONG idea of PC's and Auto electronics. Im in Australia and as such car pc equipment is scarse.

Im looking at buying this to use as a core for a CARPC.

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....136788477&rd=1

i relise it would only have USB1 and no PCI slots, but would this combined with

    19v Car==>Laptop adapter
    USB Hub

Could this run DVD player with ATA to USB converter
    USB GPS reciever
    USB TV card
    USB Touchscreen.

Screen will be a 7" Littleput touch screen.

My questing i suppose is, will this system allow for the above to be successfull, and will USB1.1 beable to run the ammount of deivices im looking at running?

    Cheers.

As far as software, yes this will run. However, the lack of USB 2.0 is the key here. I'm new to this as well so let's wait for more replies here.

You might also want to consider the Dell gx150. They're small in size too. Some have PCI slots so you can add a USB2.0 PCI card. I'm considering this myself at the moment.

hmmmm I dont think a USB 1.1 can run smoothly a DVD let alone 3 other devices. I may be wrong, but I think USB2 is almost required for smooth DVD playback

If you look above the ports, it looks as though it has a riser for a pci card so you may be able to fit a usb2 card there..

Mate, im from Aus too, and i've just finished ordering everything i need. Equipment really isnt scarce if you keep your eyes open, you really can get most items from australia already... except maybe the lilliput, and an opus if you want to go that route.
Although that system is a lot cheaper than what you would normally have to pay, it really wont be up there for everything you want.
If you have the know how and the cash, custom build it yourself, to fullfill your needs and work from there. You will almost guaranteed find it easier in the long run.
            Cheers.

cheers, yeah i was just canvising my options. Space isnt an issue (EL Fairmont Ghia) but this looked like the easy route. Where did you source your gear from and what sort of form factor system did you settle on, ATX, iTX?? And what sort of PS?

              Cheers
