  • mobo/ Pentium III processor question

I have a dell dimension 4100, that I can use for my carputer parts. What I would like to do is use the Pentium III 1ghz processor, as well as the 256mb ram stick, and 3.5" 20 gb hard drive.

First could somebody look at this MOBO and see if they see any major problems with this for a carputer. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6740216208&fromMakeTra ck=true

I have a pci usb 2.0 card since I believe this MOBO will be usb 1.1

Will I be able to use an opus power supply with this type of MOBO?

Does anybody know of any other small form factor MOBO for Pentium IIIs, Is anybody here using a Pentium III?

If this is possoible I would just add a usb dvd/rom drive and a touchscreen and have my carputer for a little cheaper than all new stuff, I think.

Thanks to all for your input

    Don't bother.

If you want to use the old memory and HDD have a look at a Mini-ITX Epia 800Mhz, that will do what you want and you can use a Opus 90W.

Or go for a better epia and get USB 2 striaght off.

      .

I have a contradiction.. that dell 4100 is a pretty tough machine.. I'd use the mobo, processor and RAM in that machine..

I use a dell 4500 (same class as your machine) for my repair machine and I've ABUSED that guy (and others) for years... its a 450mhz... It takes everything I can do to it and more..

I'm really suprised at how tough it really is.. I just built a new machine to abuse but don't have the heart to throw away the dell's..

lol I had a machine like that, was an AMD 333 or something... I abused that machine, I even used to pull PCI cards out while it was on to see what I could remove before it crashed and add new ones to see it detect them lol
