    Vauxhall Zafira?

Might be best asking on vauxhall forum, in the ICE section as you have a chance of someone having the same car.

Most cars have grommets in the firewall that you can pop out to run wires through, if not you can always just drill a hole. Just remember to seal it up so it doesn't start to rust.

Thanks for the replys, in the end i had to use the 12v 150w extra lighter socket in the back which seems to be working ok.

On a side note though where are the vauxhall ice forums? I looked on vauxhall.co.uk but there doesnt seem to be any forums.

        Thanks

I just drilled a new hole in the Pug - all the other cables were too tight to fit anything else through

you did proberly the easiest thing, another way is to run from any other 12v power supply.. depending how many devices are on that fuse/chain. eg. headunit normally connected with door light.

wow, how powerfull is the amp? 150 watts wouldnt cut it for most people

I was thinking that myself but figured some people have to learn the hard way. Hey maybe it's a low current amp design.

Its a Calibar 800w amp, its only temp but so far it seems to be working grate, i added a extra fuse between the amp the lighter socket just in case though.

Any amp should be powered direct from the battery. There MUST be a hole in the firewall, just look very carefull for it. I found mine pretty hard, but I can assure you it's there. Try and search behind the wipers main block, or something that's where mine was. You will find it. Remeber, you MUST power it from the battery!!!

I got 4 Gauge wire running through my firewall. There is a hole big enough i'm sure in your car. Try looking where the steering wires run through the firewall. That's the best place to start. Anything you need for installing a amp and routing wires can be found here http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-...de.html?page=1

or run teh power wire under the car with the brake lines or the rear washer pipe.
                        just make sure its shielded

I have had good luck following the hood release cable on newer cars.

                            wow - that's absolutely scary

I don't know of anyone who installs car audio that would recomend running the power for the amplifier off of such a small current source...

                            that's pretty scarry

that 800 watt amp is probably more like 400 watts, which is still too much of a pull IMO

you need to take a look at the size of the fuse that's on that lighter source...

if it's 60 amps and below - 8 gua is fine

if it's above 60 amps you need 4 guage

I would honnestly just go back and spend some time looking at your fire wall...remove the carpet, pull it back, and take a flash light under your dash with you. Look for a small open area and get a good idea of where it is at, then look under the hood and see if you can tell where that clear space is on the other side of the firewall...take a unibit and start to drill away - you would be wise to have someone standing outside of the car looking down into the engine compartment to watch your drill bit and make sure you don't hit anything vital

I would get out there and do that ASAP.

I spent ages looking for holes but there was none to find and i didnt want to drill holes cause of the warrenty, i will try post some pics but cause the zafira have such a small ffront everythink is mega packed together all the wires which go into the car are all done via connecters no strait through cables.

Also another question as im new to all this, i would like to add a extra battery in the back to power all the stuff i want to add how to i go about doing that?
