  • getting an opus instead of inverter

ok i've been planning my carpc for awhile now and have one working in my car right now. cept i just blew my soundcard. Anyways i am getting ready to order another power supply but then saw that the 150watt opus was only 179. im thinking about getting it. would anyone know if it could handle all this.

45watt amd mobile processor (can get the 35 watt if power is an issue)
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-400&depa=1
microatx mobo (not sure which one yet)
    512mb ram (one stick)
    7" t-view touchscreen.
    80gig 3.5" hard drive
    usb notebook dvd cd-rw
    usp gps
    usb phone charger
    wireless ethernet adapter
    possibly a sound card.

ok i have looked everything up on the power supply charts and it says minimum power supply is 166. does anyone know if i will be allright with the opus? also how much power does a notebook dvd cd-rw drive pull. on the chart i have 30 watts for a desktop one so 30watts is overkill. Ok any help is greatly appreciated.

No, not 30W, more like 5W.

It would definitely work if you put the USB devices on a powered hub.

ok im lost. if i have a powered usb hub won't it run off of 5 volts? then wouldn't i have to plug it into the opus which would draw power from that? do i have to buy something else to power it?

Yes, most hubs run on 5V. So just tap into the 5V line from the PSU. Relax, the hub draws a small amount of power, the Opus will not even feel a thing... I have 3 monitors, neons, hub, DVD, and desktop HDD powered from the PSU and it's working fine.
