  • Have i missed anything?

I have the following set up on order:

    Athlon XP 2400+
512MB PC3200 DDR Memory from Crucial
40GB Western Digital 8MB Cache (Special Edition)
Onboard Nvidia Geforce 4 MX Graphics
    DVD ROM Drive
    T1 DVB-T Digital TV USB
    USB mini Wireless Keyboard+Mouse
Xenarc 700IDT In Dash 7" Touch Screen VGA
    Linksys USB Wireless G WUSB54G $65.00
Xenarc 700 Series extra long Monitor Cable 5 Meters (16.4 feet)

I am planning to put it in the boot(trunk) of my car. Do I need anything else?

    Cheers

    - heavy gauge wire to supply the Opus from the car battery.
    - maybe a usb extension to run from the Xenarc touchscreen back to the PC.
    - How are you connecting your PC to your speakers/headunit/amp?

Im not sure how to connect the speakers to the screen. I have just a standard radio. What do you suggest??

The answer depends on whether or not you are keeping your head unit (radio) and want to use it as well as your PC. Here's a couple of ideas:

        - Get rid of/ignore your headunit. The hole it creates can be used for your screen. Now, you need some way to connect your PC's sound card to your speakers. This gets into car audio wiring and is very dependent on your exact setup. Some people splice the out put of the sound card directly to the speakers, but you'll likely need a car audio amp to get the resistence and everything right.

        - Treat the PC has an aux input on the head unit. Just like you can add an XM radio or CD changer to a head unit, you would be adding the PC as an input. The advantage is that you can still use your headunit's other features (AM/FM radio, CD player, etc), and it's internal amp and wiring to the speakers.

If I knew more about your current gear/car and what you want I could be more helpful.

Since they aren't made anymore, they're hard to find. Check EBay.
By itself, the reception is crap, especially when moving. Several people have bodged together a connection to the car antenna to improve the reception.
Remember that it doesn't support AM reception.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
            How about the Wiki?

You could ONLY if either the usb radio you get accepts external connections or you can hack it to do so.

There is no "best" solution. Search the forums for "USB radio" find people also in the UK who recommend a radio, see if any of them take external connections or have known hacks to modify them to accept external connections.

You're going to have to do some research and make the decision yourself, maybe even buy a few things, try them out return them, etc. It's part of the hobby.
