  • What Front-end?

    Hello,

I'm gonne install a carputer. My touchscreen tft is already on its way ()
Now i have a spare laptop, a Acer Travelmate 800 (good specs). But i have no clue what front-end i should use.

Is there a front-end with these function:
    - GPS navigation that looks like TomTom (been working with the PPC emulator from the tutorial in this forum for a while)
    - Auto-accept phonecalls from my bluetooth phone and mute all other sound

Dous this exists in a front-end?

    thnx

nope but you can add phoco to a front end to get the phone stuff and whatever gps software you like. None of the front ends come with this stuff because none of it is free, you have to buy them. Personally I use road runner front end freedrive GPS and phoco, carefull with the gps as a lot of it isnt touch screen friendly.

FYI, Phoco is no longer being sold to individuals as of the end of this month. There are some threads here talking about it.

Has anyone made a frontend comparison chart? Like something showing the frontend in rows and the features in columns, with "X"s for what features they have? It would make a great sticky, I see this "what frontend?" question a lot...

Yes it is just not by Zorro Read the inportant news on his site:
As of end of May, I'm not selling PhoneControl.NET to end users anymore. Instead, I'll make it available for integrators (such as Fluxmedia) and dealers / resellers only.
Keywords dealers and resellers I.E people who will sell to you.

Looks like centrafuse meets my commands verry well!

Phone works great but is it possible to add other maps?
I'm from belgium, and those maps aren't in there...

                  Just a word of cautioning:
Be very careful with Acer products.
They can only be serviced by Acer technicians, and can only be upgraded/repaired with Acer parts.
Which costs a fortune compared to a standard laptops, such as the Toshiba's.
Plus, most other computers/laptops can use any parts, instead of brand name specific parts.
