  • Need advice where to shop? Please

OK I am using my laptop but I dont wan to to break apart and rig it to power on with a car and I am tired of takign out at the end of the day.

So I have 600 Dollars I can spend on a car pc
this is what I want from it and if you could find one I will be very thankful.

    at least 1.5Ghz but I seen 2Ghz
    184 pin Ram
    preferably p4
ma2 automotive power supply build into the case or buy separatly but need to go inside the case
    can support sata
    usb
and the case can not be gigher than 2inches and long and width be below 10 inches.
    I have seen 8x10
    all under 600

main thing I want it powerfull enough and small enough to fit underneath an eclipse 1995.
    Thanks

dont wanna flame you, but, look in the mp3car store, look at newegg.com

    look at any computer store

the mobo and processor will set you back around $100-$150, (u didnt say how much ram), ma2? u mean, m2-atx? o_O

usb is off the mobo, u'd be hard pressed to get a p4 mobo without USB

    case?, look around

and under an eclipse? better waterproof it (i think u mean under the seat?)

Generally in computing these three qualities cant be achieved simultaneously:

      -Cheap
      -Efficient
      -Small

Usually one must be sacrified to achieve other two... i think u might wanna keep that in mind to avoid dissapointments...

Also are u planning to run it headless??

        http://store.mp3car.com
        http://www.logicsupply.com
        http://www.newegg.com
        http://www.mini-box.com

        Just for starters.

I would strongly advise against asking people to do your leg work for you on this board. There are many reasons I would suggest doing your own research.

You need to know what you are running and why. Theses things are critical if you plan on implemeting a pc in your car.

I ask here because maybe some one ahs done what I wanted and they point out and say hey theres a web site that sells them in a bundle. I will check those web sites out. take a note for example this guy... he bought everything cheap from ebay... he barely made under your limit, if we count off second processor... and yet the guys (usable) processor is not even nearly enough efficient for your minium requirement.

My point is... u will have to flex a little, either size, money, or efficiency wise...
