  • My first carputer is almost done

The rest of the parts for my carputer finally arrived today. I decided to do it simple for this first attempt. This is what I have:

    VoomPC Case
    160W power supply
    512MB Ram
20 Gig Hitachi Hard Drive (I had sitting around in an old laptop)
VIA EPIA-MII10000 with integrated 1ghz cpu
    7inch touchscreen

The screen is mounted in a tray in the center of my dashboard (2004 F-150). Im just using the dash mount bracket that came with it. I wanted to keep my head unit so im still not sure what im going to do with the screen. I will be building a mount for it. I just assembled the computer and tested it out with my jumpstart box and it seems to be working fine. I hope to get it installed this weekend. I just wanted to post that im over this first hurdle and pretty excited about it haha.

Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

Yeah really. I'm almost done as well. Got everything packaged and working. This left to do are:

      - Fab a new bezel for the TS.
      - Finish my modified BMV2 skin so that it looks more OEM.
      - Decide on a GPS program, get that working and embbed that in RR.
      - Embbed my OBDII app into RR.

I'm getting a bit anxious as my CarPC has been sitting on my bench now for the past two months.
