  • Connecting 8awg to CNX-P1900

How does one connect an 8awg to the awg(not sure what awg the wire is on a carnetix unit)? Do you just solder it on or twist the ends? My setup is 4awg from the battery to the back of my car through a fuse and to a distribution block. How would I go upon connecting the two?

    Thanks ahead of time

For wire splices, the preferred method is soldering, then covering with heatshrink.
The secondary method is crimp connectors.
A "twist & tape" connection is fine for testing purposes, but it too fragile a connection for daily use in the car.

Remember that we're talking about more than just whether a bit of electronics will work. A short in your car can potentially cause a short, which could lead to your car not working, a fire, injury and/or death.
I don't tyhink you'd like to experience any of those.

Thanks so there shouldn't be a problem connecting an 8gauge wire straight to the carntix p1900 wire with like 14,16 gauge?
