  • Opus 250 Problem

I am having an issue with my computer posting using my Opus 250W PSU. When I turn the ignition, the computer will start--all fans turn on and the monitor turns on. However, the computer never beeps and the VGA doesn't work.

Oddly enough, when I turn off the ignition, a few seconds later, the system beep comes, the computer posts, and the VGA works. The VGA does, however, have lines where text is shown spanning either side of the text or pictures on the screen. A minute or so later, the computer powers off.

After powering off, the PSU blinks twice, then 4 times, separated by a second or two.

According to the manual, the 2 blinks should mean the computer power up sequence failed and the 4 blinks signifies that the power down sequence failed.

It says that the power up sequence failure could be on account of the wiring of the two power-switch bacle from the PSU to the ATX (the 20-pin), the atx motherboard bio settings, locked up mobo, or faulty dc-dc PSU.
The power down sequence, according to the manual, could be caused by thew things above, including ACPI function malfunctioning.

I don't think it would be the PSU cables. The OPUS has a 24-pin connector on the board, so I got a 24-pin to 20-pin converter, then extended the cable to my mobo. I have enabled ACPI 2.0 in my BIOS, and put hibernate on S3.

I would like for the computer to power on upon ignition and off upon removing the key, so any suggestions to fix my problem and get it working how I stated would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the help!

Figured out that the 24-pin to 20-pin converter was the bulk of the problem. Computer boots fine and works great now.

However, still, once in a while the computer does not shutdown with turning off the car. Road Runner will exit, but the computer will take a few minutes and perform a hard shut down rather than the standard shutdown trigger.

Any suggestions on that last problem?

    Thanks!

I believe the shutting down issue may be more of a roadrunner issue than an Opus issue.
Try the setup without Roadrunner running.

You're right--I tried just loading to the main screen without auto-loading RR and it works fine. In fact, about 2/3 of the time it works fine while shutting down from RR, but the other 1/3 is completely random.

Any clues or should I redirect to the RR forum?
