  • Testing Sproggy

    Hey everyone,
I hope I'm not contributing to the demise of a kitten

I finally got my sproggy 2.8+ assembled but I dont want to test it out on my motherboard.
Can I apply power to the sproggy with no load to test the voltages or should I create a dummy load of some kind?
If so, what should I use for the load?

    Thanks,
    Robert

i tested my sproggy with a multimeter...

if you dont have one, use a case fan.

      Cool,
I just wanted to make sure that checking the voltages with no load would not damage something.

mp3ex nothing will happen just power the sproggy and check the voltage with the meter .. be sure to get the volts right before you connect it to the mobo .. etc ..

        Good LUck

          Thanks Mastero,
I will be checking the voltages tonight.
I didn't have any parts left over so maybe it will work correctly.

ha.... just cuz you dont have stuff left over doesnt mean it will work right...

but like mastero said, juat make sure that all the voltages are correct before hooking it up to the mobo. you dont want to waste a ~$30 (or more) mobo because of a $0.35 diode was put in wrong.

good luck and ask questions if you get a funky number on the output.

now my problems with 2.8 sproggy

ok, ive got it built, and running.

my power on button does not work, it requires me to jump pin 14 to ground.

and when the mobo starts to power up. it never boots. both the hd and power leds stay lit, while there is none of the typical noises coming from the hd.

my voltages are all right. what else could be causing this problem?

              is my processor too fast?

              ive got:
              fv24
              900 cely
              and only 32 ram

              arrrgh

              thanks all,
              dan

Double check your components on the sproggy board, specially those diodes.

backpack give your voltage details all pins when the power is connected to the sproggy !

with out touching the pin 14 to ground

Backpack your details looks good try to upgrade to 2.8+ its hardly a change but a good one also connect only your MObo and display and see it it boots !

                            Sweet!
I checked the voltages last night and everything came up right.
Now for the ultimate test this weekend.

                              ok, itll boot... somewhat....

it begins to boot, gets up to around the windows startup screen and the sproggy led blinks. the computer attempts to restart but does not, it does not load anything, leaving a blank screen and have no keyboard control either.

is the sproggy overheating? the 787 and 788 get really hot...

                              thanks
