  • carnetix 2140 has no output and led flashing?

im having big problems getting my 2140 to work at all

all it does when plugged into 12v is blink 5 times and then rapidly blink and thats it.

it has no output what so ever and i have checked and rechecked the wiring for the inputs and it is all as it should be.

i try to plug the unit into the home computer inside and when i do it wont recognise it. i also have followed the software instalation guides to update the firmware but when i have PSUmoni up and running and plug it into the usb the red led blinks saying it isnt connected.

What is supplying voltage to the p2140. My P2140 does the same thing when its not getting enough voltage.

I have a dual battery set up in my 4wd.

I have run two wires direct from the + side of the secondary battery both with 15amp fuses.

The yellow ignition wire is run to the fusebox inside the cab

The two black wires are grounded on the chassis

      Blue wire is not used.

Everything seems to be connected right. See if you can get PSUmoni working on a different pc and reset it.

i have downloaded PSUMoni version 1.8.3 and when i open the program it comes up with the interface.

Then once i connect the 2140 the interface still has the red light flashing in the corner saying usb not connected (x)

A window opens up sayin ""windows needs to install your driver software for your CNX2140" yet i follow the prompts and it cannot find a driver.

the 2140 itself flashes 5 times when the usb is plugged in and then nothin??

            ***UPDATE:

Ok i managed to get the usb drivers and all that installed finaly, i used another computer, and i updated the firmware on thr 2140 following the online guide.

so now it has firmware version 1.8.3.

i was all excited and i went out to the car to plug it into power thinkin it would work now.... but no

it still has 5 flashes, then a constant rapid flashing????

im very close to throwing the damn thing off a cliff

Check the voltage coming out your second battery and make sure it’s above the low voltage shutdown in Psumoni, I think the default is 11.8volts. I’m sure that flash sequence is due to low startup voltage. Check this thread out.

Make sure you don't have the p2140 configured to output 12volts on both rails because it can't do that.

ive checked all that via the online manual.

                  primary configured to 12v

secondary configured to 5v (it does not get used anyway)

i myself dont have a multimeter but i have friend who are sparkys, so i will check it wih that.

Also i will take a laptop (not the one for the install) out to the car and hook the 2140 up via power and usb and get the voltage readouts?

I get the same problem with mine sometimes , figured it was du to short-cricut since I havn't connected the second +/GND in the PRI-out, but as you're saying it might be low-volt protection.

Have you tried starting the p2140 without the output cable plugged in ?

                      Success!!!

Cheers Kalt for all your help.

Turns out my second battery in my truck is a deep cycle and was happily sitting there at 11.6 volts, so i lowered the slider in PSUmoni as i remember seeing in a tutorial that you can do this if using a deep cycle battery.

im happy it works now, i think im getting into a intresting yet frustrating hobby!

now if only i can figure out why my optiplex sx270 stopped working...
