  • Options for Thin Client that runs at 12v

    Hi guys,
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I really, really don't understand the electrical side of all this.
I have a thin client that will be my car PC, and it has an external power brick that takes in AC and outputs 12V 4A. Since the PC runs on 12V, can I omit the power brick and run the PC straight off of the car's electrical system? Is this a bad idea? If so, what would you guys recommend instead?
Thank you very much in advance.

    Not a good Idea...

You auto isn't 12v , it's more like 13.8 or more. You need a dc-dc regulator check the mp3 store. Some people have and had good luck(running straight from the batt). I myself have a SX280 (dell) that has a 12v input but, I'm still gonna put a regulator in the line. Use your own judgement but, if you're wrong you just fried your machine. Good Luck.
