  • Power supply requirements.

    I am now in the final stage of building my second incar pc. My previous system used a standard PSU and an invertor. I now want a DC-DC power supply for my system but don't really know what I require.

    MY System;

    Via Epia Pico ITX Motherboard (1024mb ram)
    3.5" 160GB Sata HD

    I will power my screen from the cars batery though a regulator I already have.

    How much power will these draw? I like the look of the M1-ATX 90 Watt Power supply. Is 90 watts enough for my system? Is there any known problems with this power supply (i.e is it any good!).

    Any advice/recomendations would be great!

    I googled quicky and from what I read, the Pico-ITX Epia board has a single 12v input. how many amps does it draw?

    the M1-ATX is not powerful enough for your proposed system. the M1-ATX can provide [email protected] and [email protected] your 3.5" HDD will draw up to 2A by itself which would max out the M1-ATX.

    the M2-ATX-HV is the same price and can provide [email protected] and [email protected] it should be able to handle your system with plenty of power to spare.

      My Pico takes a standard ATX Power supply.

      Thanks for the info on the hard drive. I knew the 3.5" disk would draw a lot but I want to keep it as I feel they are more reliable than the laptop drives!

      I will consider the M2-ATX-HV thanks!

          The range of input voltage that the M2 can accept and still function.
          Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
          How about the Wiki?

          Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

            the reason I suggested the -HV was because it has the same output specs but it costs $15 less (I don't know why the regular M2 costs more... )
