  • OPUS 150w DC-DC ATX Testing

    Hi,

    I am currently in the middle of preparing my next generation car pc. I used to have this in my car but now I am going to install it in my van (truck) for more practical reasons.

    I used to use a VIA EPIA M10000 board with the OPUS 150w just fine but it was always a little sluggish. On the new build I plan to use the board and proc out of an old Dell Dimension 2400 machine.

    So far I have the machine on a test bed with the OPUS powered up slightly awkwardly off of a normal psu so that I can test the OPUS on the new motherboard configuration. It is an Intel based 845 board (I think - no markings) with 1GB RAM and a Celeron 2.4Ghz proc.

    My question really is this... On the test bed it is working just fine. I'm actually suprised about how well it runs to be perfectly honest. However, if I overload the OPUS, will it pop or just shut down?

    The reason I ask is because I have yet to test it with the Lilliput touchscreen and a few USB devices.

    I've tried searching for this but can't seem to come across a definitive answer.

    I would think you'd blow the fuse. Click on the power supply calculator to get a general idea of your pc's power consumption.
