  • How long will battery last with M2 on P1?

Quick question: if I set my M2-ATX to P1 (5s + 1 min. autolatch / 1 min. hard off), so that it's only drawing .5 ma, approximately how long can I leave the car off without draining the battery?

There's no way to answer that without knowing about your battery, the specs of your PC and your audio system.

Well, I was just looking for a ballpark answer... and why would any of that matter, beyond the specs of the battery? Both the audio and the pc would be off, save the .5 mA mentioned that the m2-atx supposedly draws when completely off.

fwiw, the audio system is stock Honda Odyssey, nothing fancy (no amp) and the pc is based on the Intel D945GCLF (built in Atom) + 3.5 IDE HD + one or two usb peripherals.

OK, perhaps I should phrase the question another way...

For you guys using a m2-atx, have you ever returned to your vehicle and found your battery dead (assuming proper wiring and proper hibernation)? If so, how many days had transpired?

Hum.. It realy depens on the battery of you car and the car itself.

            a 50a/h battery can deliver 50ampere for 1 hour!
a 70a/h battery can deliver 70ampere for 1 hour... and so forth.

            0.5ma is 0,0005a

So, if 0.5ma is the ONLY thing the battery need to keep alive, it will do so for 100.000 hours (if a 50a/h battery).
But keep in mind, every car now days, have memory and other things drawing tiny bits of ampere all all times.

My Altima has sat for days with the PC off with no problems . Even in the dead of last winter it was OK .

Just be absolutely positive the PC shuts down . I 'thought' my PC shut down
ok but it either locked up or rebooted itself 'cause in the morrning I had a very dead car .

Now I enable hibernation just in case I 'forget' to shut off the PC.
