  • newbie help choosing power supply

I'm new to the mp3car.com community but I been browsing for a while this site for a while because I been thinking on doing a carputer on my car. I want to start my setup using an old computer that I have here at home. The computer is a HP Pavilion 6735 and I want to know what's the best DC-DC power supply to use.

The current power supply information of the computer is as fallow:

    Maximum continuous output power 100W

    Input Rating:
    100v - 120 v 3A
    200v - 240v 1.5A
    50/60hz

    Output Rating: 100W(Max)
    Red + 5v 10A Purple +5vsb 0.9A
    Yellow + 12V 2A Black GND
    Blue - 12V 0.3A Gray Power Good
    Orange + 3.5V 6A

    I'll appreciate the community help.

thanks for your reply... I was looking at the specs of the ones you recommended but they are 220w and 250w... my power supply is a 100w... won't that damage the computer?

No , the pc will only pull what is needed. Those ratings are the max that the power supply will allow.
