  • My carputer randomly resets

    Ok, here's my setup.

    12v line -> 2 combined Diodes -> SLA Battery

The 12v line runs along the battery's 12v line to a switch, which then goes to my PicoPsu.

They all share a common ground, securely in the chassis.

My problem is, the computer just randomly resets!

There's very little information to go on. The most likely culprit is the PicoPSU. They are generally considered garbage.
Are you providing REGULATED 12v to the PicoPSU or straight from the vehicle's electric system?

Whatever the cause, I'm certain it's not random at all. There is a reason it resets.

Regulated? No, but I purchased the wide-voltage version of the PSU that can take 12v-24v, so I doubt that is the cause. In any cause, no it's not regulated.

Ahh my bad, seemingly random, better?

        The PIcoPSU is the cause.
Your battery voltage will fluctuate and drop below 12v at times under normal operation That's when the computer resets, as the PicoPSU requires a minimum of 12v to operate.

Personally, I would look into a different PSU.

          Really? Darn.

Blown well over $100 on two different PicoPSU's.

Is there something I can do to make sure it always gets 12v?

sooth: Buy a DC to DC regulator, which takes 6-18VDC and outputs 12VDC.

That's it? Thanks malcom! I'll look into it!!!

EDIT: So now, I'm gonna wire that inbetween the "12v"/battery -> Regulator -> PSU?

EDIT2: Got a link? I can't seem to find any...
