  • P1900 shut down acting weird

Everytime I turn the car off, everything goes off and black as if it was turning off, then comes right back on and won't start the shut down process 10 sec later. What gives? I have never Changed any of the jumper setting since I first set it up new. It's the v2.2 btw

Anytime my P2140 starts acting weird, I unplug for a few minutes and then plug it back in. So, hopefully it's just a glitch.

It's done this for a while now. And after having the P1900 out of the car for a few months, it continues to do this.

Did the battery ever go dead while it was connected?

I can't recall if the 1900 has this problem, but the 2140 can get scrambled if it is connected to a power source that gets low or goes dead. You get a lot of questions from people who are testing it and it starts acting funny.

The 2140 has to have the firmware reloaded. The 1900, I thought it was what Machinehead said - disconnect completely, let sit, reconnect.

ill try that. but it seems not being connected in the car for the last 6 months would be plenty to reset it.

Re-reading your first post, everything shouldn't 'go black' when you turn the car off. The P1900 should continue to run and then signal the Mac to shut down.

Are you sure you have the power connected to an always-on line and the accessory input to the accessory line? Red - always powered, even when the ignition is off. Yellow, power when the ignition is on, no power when the ignition is off.

Because the way it sounds, its like when you turn the key to the off position it is losing power for a split second but since it has capacitors in the 1900, it doesn't shut off and stays running until it gets power from the next detent on the key switch.
