I am a bit of a noob when it comes to powering cpu’s, I have a desktop that I am using as a carputer but before I install I want to be able to have it auto on/off with the turn of the key. So my question is if I have a startup/shutdown controller like a M4-ATX would I still need an inverter and the power brick that normally plugs into the wall? Or do I just run a wire to the battery from the controller, if that is the case how will it know to only draw power when the key is turned? It is also my understanding that the startup/shutdown controller only tells the computer to turn on will it also be the source to keep it on while the car is on? Thanks in advance.

Do I still need an inverter?
