  • REinstalling P2140 drivers help

So I had everything installed in my car and working, but the computer was giving me a lot of bluescreens and just not working smoothly. I decided to format the computer in my car and start from scratch.
However problem now is that I cant seem to install the P2140 drivers. According to the P2140 driver installation manual I have to have the P2140 unplugged from the computer and play around with the jumpers to get the drivers to install properly. Unfortunately because all the hardware is already installed in the car, and the original computers AC cord has been spliced, I cant really do this.
Is there any way to install all the P2140 drivers I need without having to rip everything outta my car and buy a new AC cord???

Its not safe to unplug the USB connecting the P2140 to the computer and then turn the car/computer on, is it?

Anyone? Can I just unplug the P2140 USB and try installing it?

      Hi scENFORCER,

What symptoms are you having with the P2140? Is it not powering on? Are you referring to the P2140 firmware installation process?

The P2140 can be used without connecting it via USB to the computer. The USB connection is only for viewing/ changing P2140 settings.

^ There are no 'symptoms' per say. Simply, no software (drivers or firmware) are installed. However the unit itself is already installed and wired into the car, and the drivers dont want to install properly if the unit is plugged into the computer via USB. My question is if its ok to power the computer IN the car without having the USB connected? I figure that once I unplug the P2140 from the USB (as per the manual) then the drivers should install properly.

The P2140 comes preprogrammed with the latest v.1.8.3 firmware so you shouldn't need to reflash it unless you have a specific need to. The PSUMoni software monitoring functionality is optional. You don't need to have the USB cable connected to the P2140 and the computer for the P2140 to operate properly and start up and shutdown your machine.

Please pay close attention to the jumper diagram on page 11 to make sure you're configuring the primary and secondary outputs correctly for your application.

Ok, thanks. I figured it out. As I mentioned, everything has already been set up (ie the jumpers and all), then I formatted the computer. So I just wanted to verify how to reinstall all the software into Windows. But I figured it out now. Thanks!
