  • Xbox, to accept DC input??

alrighty guys, first post but i am no noob to the automotive world. I'm a great member to other message boards. I do know most of my electronic **** but, this is abit different.

Alrighty, soon, like next 2 weeks i will be buying an xbox, loading linux on it, and turning it into a cartop PC. It'll be my carputer. I already have plans for the GPS and all that shizzle, but.. i would like to make a much more prefessional job and not use an ac power inverter. I would like my Xbox to accept strait up DC power, is there anyways todo this?

    Thanks,

    Shane

i don't think the xbox even accepts 12v anyway.. it might for the drive.. but the main system i think accepts 5v only.. so its not like you can splice a few wires and away you go..

as for the pic.. we don't allow them cause there is nothing worse then a thread full of images and only 1 line posts.. its annoying

I dont like imports so dont influence me to argue, i have good reasons behind my beliefs.

either way its gonna be just like a running a normal computer. Cept the xbox has no -12v line.

You'll need a way to get a regulator 12v and 5v's from a normal 12v line.. just what like a opus does.. so its not like you can just splice some wires.. or you can just blow off my 5 years experience with this and my 3 years of doing xbox mods

ok.. its easy.. first you need a dc-dc atx psu, a opus would be alittle ott, maybe one of them small ones.. then you need one of these . This would allow you to connect a atx psu direct to the motherboard :-).. xbox modded for 3 years also :-).. infact modchipper for 10 years

                hope this info helps

yeah it does, you will be able to tap into this.. I cant see the screen taking that much.. if your going to attach a standard xbox psu then I prefer the delta model to the fox.. I've had afew fox types fail on me.
