  • Grounding Amp and Pc

    Hi All

    Just a quick question...
I was going to use 8 AWG wire from the amp to the chassie of the car and 12 AWG the the OPUS to the car chassie. What i want to know can i use a distribution box, so i would have 8 AWG from the Amp to the distribution box and then 8 AWG from the distribution box to the car chassie then 12 AWG from the OPUS to the distribution box??

    Cheers

My understanding is each device should be grounded individualy.

The ground wire should be very short and thicker then your main power wire.

You will be fine using the distribution block.

yeh, that will be fine, grounding induvidually is wrong, common ground points are going to reduce interference.

Common grounds are good for cetain electronics especially ones that are pulling or producing the same amounts of power. A device like an fm modulater will pull tons of interference if groud with an amp. Same with inverters and the like. My suggestion is try out the opus ground to distro block and if you are picking up interference through the speakers, give it it's own ground.
