  • ITPS with Invertor

Alright, i'm afraid i have another question. I have searched for how to use an itps with an invertor, and i haven't found anything. What i want to do is start my car and then have my computer turn on. i'm using a power invertor as it is right now. i've looked on their site, and it seems it's made only for certain kinds of motherboards or something. If anyone has any answers for me, please help. Can i even use an itps with an invertor since i don't have a dc-dc power supply?

    No.
    Get rid of inverter.
    Use DC-DC converter.
Take a look at the DOCS for the ITPS, it does exactly what you want, but with a DC-DC powersupply only.

    Good luck.

You COULD use the ITPS with an inverter. Bypass the on-board regulation of the ITPS, and use it purely as a startup/shutdown controller.

However, the best option is a DC-DC power supply.

use it to control a relay to switch the power to your inverter.

I already have a relay running the invertor, but i don't know how to modify the itps to make it run off the invertor. what pins do i have to change? Where do i insert all the wires? I have a 300 watt power supply on my computer...i don't have enough money to find myself a 300 watt dc-dc power supply, which is why i have my 400 watt invertor. Since the itps plugs into the motherboard, i gotta adjust something don't i? Thanks.

              Try this

This should work.. YOu want the ITPTS to start and shutdown your computer right? Just hook up the switched +12v cable and the unswitched 12v cable. You won't need anything too powerful. Then just hook up the power button cables to your motherboard. Also you can use the relay you were talking about with the 12v out.

The ITPS Plugs into the DC-DC converter that powers your mother board. It just to level the 12V supply going into your Mobo.
                Inverter - 12V Adapter brick - PC
12V from Car - ITPS - (Only the leads from the shutdown controller - Mobo on/off header. You need to hook up the ITPS to 12V Ground and remote power. You're probably want to get some sort of kill switch for your inverter.. don't want to have a flat battery, do we?
