  • Car Battery *what to buy*

    I currently have:

    p1.5
    opus 150
about 8 usb connections being powered
    400 watt amp
    2002 impreza

    all running off my battery,

but i'm having issues where the opus will not endure a crank,
and i sometimes get random shutdown times (system only runs for 5 minutes tops without the engine on)

So i need a reccomendation as to what type of battery i should get for my car... (something of quality and fitting for the carputer enviroment)
I have zero knowledge when it comes to cars...
    any help here?

I have always had the best luck with Optima batteries. They are very durable in all ways except deep discharging. The Yellow would be my recommendation for running a carpc.

Optima is a good option for sure.

If you want a little more power though:

      www.kinetikpower.com

just thought I would throw it out there.

JUST bought an optima yellow top today... freaking only pepboys had the size I needed (D51R).

And before you try to buy from websites, check teh info direct from the site that speedracer sent. It seems that every freaking website has the wrong picture for the D51 and the D51R. (the two terminals are switched) So I almost ordered the wrong one from an online site cause the picture was inaccurate.

              Check out Odyssey Drycell.
              http://www.odysseybatteries.com/

I am putting one in this week. I have a friend who own a truck electric shop, and he said he likes these even more than the optima.

I am installing the PC 1200 as an auxillary.

costco sells optima batteries. I haven't seen Optima Yellow, but they do sell Blue.

You should be fine with a redtop.

batteries.com actually has cheap s/h for the optima... for ground, it's FREE! next day is only $25. But I did check some other sites... yeah $30 or so for ground, $80 or so for next day, F that.

$110 is too much for a battery?

The next step would be to just go to your local shop and pick up a battery.....you're looking at $65ish then.....

totally worth the extra money, hands down, for the optima
