  • dirt cheap screen/accessory power...

    http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bi...-25&type=store

$4.00 for a 12v @ 2.5A output regulator that plugs into a cigarette lighter socket. since it's 2.5A output, it's got to be a switching supply so it should be good, clean, cheap power for displays, etc up in the dash without having to run a 12v line from the trunk from the computer... and also takes a some load off your computer's PSU.

and all electronics has no minimum order, and typically flat-rate $6 for shipping. so worst case, you spend $10, but i'm sure you can all find plenty of other "must-have" connectors and things on their site to fill up your order and outweigh the shipping cost.

might want to snag one quickly too, it says "low quantities"
But don't take it from me! here's a quote from a real, live newbie:

yeah. every time i order from them it winds up being like 40 bucks, because i find so many cool little things, and invent projects for them they are pretty hit-or-miss with finding specific parts though, since they are just a surplus dealer they don't keep a fixed inventory and often have a lot of weird stuff and not so much common stuff... but it's hard to beat their prices for the stuff they do have. especially for connectors... it's amazing how you can spend more money on a few connectors for a project than for the entire rest of the project at most places, but all electronics has plenty of various ones for pretty cheap.

        Good find!
Yeah, I'm with you guys...I just ordered some stuff from there to convert my niece's Barbie Jeep, which she grew out of, to my nephew's Police Jeep. I love that place! All for about $40 + shipping. Strobes, lights, switches, siren, amplifier, mic, loud speaker....That and a little Krylon Fusion blue paint and it'll be awesome!
