  • Travla C156 built-in power supply

I was thinking about installing a Travla C156 as a carputer and noticed on travla's website that the case itself comes with a "Built-in 12V DC-DC converter". Does this mean that I do not need to buy an additional power supply for my carputer and that I can directly wire it to my car's battery?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ohh noo, That power supply needs regulated power. You need something like a carnetix to regulate car power into power that is suitable for that power supply.

Something like this would work quite well.

      dise,

jcdillin is absolutely correct. The C156 appears to include the Morex 60 watt DC-DC ATX regulator. You will need to provide it with a well regualted +12V source. The P1260 can do this, as well as provide a startup/shutdown controller. The P1260 is available at the MP3Car.com store.

Thanks guys for all your help! It's really given me something to think about.

Now how about the M1-ATX -- I've seen a lot of people on this board really seem to like them and they look pretty customizable. Will this power supply work with the Travla C156?

I have the same question... also, it has a slot for PCI card and I'm wondering if I could put a Media Center Edition 2005 TV/Radio card in the slot. This case is perfect for me because it's only 7-inches wide and a great fit where my car ash tray used to be located.
