  • Grounding plug

    Hi all,

Just before I whack the PC into the RR, I'm wondering what I'm to do with the ground wire from the plug - the live and neutral go to the power supply, and the ground wire was originally grounded to the case...so I just ground it to the central grounding point of..everything? (amps, mobo etc?)

Toss it out. Most inverters don't like it anyway, and it does little good in a car environment. Just be sure you ground everything to the chassis instead.

Everything? I've stripped my car, so I'm going overkill and grounding the lot to one place. What's to be grounded? MOBO, PSU, HDD...and How do you ground a PSU?

Attach a wire from the ground/earth pin of the plug and connect the other end to the car body. If you don't you might get a slight buzzing noise from your speakers (or static could build up on your PSU).

          That was my concern.

Here, this is what I reckon I'll be doing.
All constant 12v, but the inverter will be on a relay triggered by switched 12v
