  • Bookpc PS: New supply is different

My bookpc ps burned out so i bought another pc100 ps but the 5vsb amperage is different. The new one has 1.5amps and the old ps had .8amps on the 5vsb rail. The +12v rail is also slightly increased in amps to 6 from 5.5 amps.

The bookpc now starts on its own and the power button does nothing more than reset the system. Could this change in amps be the cause?

I am also getting CMOS cheksum error on bootup, same cause? I haven't replaced the battery yet for it so that could also be the problem.

    TIA,

hmmmm....Check some error isnt that an indicator that ur memory is now bad. If so, then u have killed it by static discharge from ur hands or what not.

No, but the new supply may not be compatible with the motherboard for other reasons. If I remember, BookPCs use a weird connector. Is there a BIOS option for automatic power up?

Have you cleared the CMOS? Occasionally an ATX power supply swap will do weird things to the CMOS. This is fixed by clearing it.
