    Hey Technics,
Just a quick one, What brand laptop did your psu come from? I got my hands on a toshiba, 286, and the psu was all on the same board. I found a 486 on a site, that mite do, its an IBM. What input voltage does yours take? or do you power it from the batter connector?

    Cheers,
    hornet

Sorry hornet, but I don't remember the brand, and the rest of the lapdog bits have long since been disposed of. From what I remember it may have been an NEC but I wouldnt bet on it. I'm away from home at the moment(and have to remember to fill out that damn census tomorrow) so I can't look at the DC-DC PCB. The PSU has a 12V DC input so I just removed the DC input connector and soldered directly to the PCB for power. Some lapdogs require higher DC input voltages, but they normally use a 12V battery so you could wire to the battery contacts(well I dont see why not anyway. I wouldnt plug in the charger at the same time though ). It's unlikely that anything higher than a 386 will have a separate converter or supply enough power for that matter. Most 486 lapdogs I've seen are highly integrated. I'll let you know what brand mine was(if I can work it out) when I return home in the next couple of days.

For what it's worth, most older Tandy, Zenith, NEC and Compaq (?) laptops have seperated supplies. Note: by old, I mean 286, XT, etc.
