The power supply will work, but the CPU will not. Even though the 586 says it's compatible with the Cyrix processor, it will not boot that chip. I ran into this problem and had to get an Intel 166MMX. It's a rather large shame, as those Cyrix 200 chips are fairly speedy, and dirt cheap...

I was wondering if that PSU would work because no one had a cdrom or a floppy with their system so I wasn't sure because the cdrom and hardrive use the most power. About the cyrix200 do you think there might me a bios update that solved the problem with the 200 chip? Has anyone taken a look?
Thanks you the Info I am going to buy the arise today......
I will be up and running in the next week ur so.

I tried loading the BIOS update (which said it had "various fixes for Cyrex CPUs") but it didn't make a difference.

The power supply should be able to handle the extra load of the floppy and CDROM, as it is doubtful that you will be using both at the same time. The CDROM will draw large currents, but only when it is spinning up.

I was also wondering if there was a way or a site that will tell me how to run the Arise PSU and a AT ac/dc PSU all in at the same time so I can use either one. I am designing the case to hold both of the PSU's. I know that it takes up alot of space but i want to be able to take it inside of any house and plig it in and go.
