  • Powering 7" touchscreen without SDC

Hi guys. I got a question for all u gurus!

I've searched but havent found a satisfactory answer or at least one i could understant fully LOL

basically i would like to know how to power my linitx monitor.I wont have an SDC in my carpc setup, as i will be powering carpc manually.

I have read about how Darque Pervert says about powering it from a molex connector but i didnt quite grasp the idea. dont understand all the 5v, 3.5v RAIL thingy.Could anyone explain this? DP can you please?

What other ways are there to power my monitor?

BTW my monitor has a "soft-power button". Is that wot u call it?Its like the ones on the atx pcs.

    Thanks in advance guys!

      Here's what I've gathered in a nutshell.

You can power it off the 12v egg that comes with the monitor (if it has one) or you can power it off a 5v rail from the PSU. **Now I haven't done what I'm about to tell you, so wait for a second opinion before you do this** Tap the positive monitor wire into a positive 5v feed from the PSU, tap the negative monitor wire into the negative 5v feed. The molex connector could be used if you don't have a simple power plug into your monitor, but I don't think it would be needed on most monitors.

And the reason your question wasn't answered was because you didn't search enough.
