  • computer not turning on, prob power supply

hey guys, sorry i haven't been around in a while. I've been busy w/ work, grad school, and other stuff.

Anyway, i'm trying to track down a problem w/ my car computer. I've long suspected a problem w/ my Opus 90watt power supply, and this may confirm it. Often, it would not turn on, and sometimes when it did, I would get a bios error about the harddrive. It could be that power was not getting to the harddrive. Recently, I left my car computer at the airport for a week, and came back and my car computer would not turn on. I took it inside and used a AC power supply, and the computer turns on no problem. In the car, however, no such luck. I checked the voltages and all seem to be fine. Also the green light blinks showing it has power.

Is there a better way to check the supply?

as an additional note, i took the DC power plug out and i saw that the plastic around the always on wire is brown. Voltmeter shows that it still gets power, so it didn't blow a fuse at the battery. Switched power also is on. Fuse on the PS is not broken, and nothing on teh supply appears to be broken or brown, even on the bottom of the circuit board. Does this brown just from the ~90watts going through it?
