  • Joining 2 power supplies ??

    Hi friends
    Well i have 2 power supplies from MINI-BOX.com ( 200 watts each )
and now for some reason i feel i need more than 200watts of power to run the car comp..( wattage consumption of my comp is appox 195 W ) so it is running at almost full range....
My question is -------- IS it possible to JOIN thess 2 power supplies so that i can get a combined power of ~ 400 + watts which will help me running all the components and the additional stufff...

    Pls help me out
    thanx in advance

Run the mainboard off one of the PSUs and the rest of the periphirals from the other PSU.

Problem with your PSU is that it doesn't have a regualted 12v line. Not a lot of people are impressed by that.

Oh thanx for ur help...if i run the MB on 1 PS how do i power the USB from the other PS as i am using almost 7 USBs...

and how does a regulated 12 V line not be present create a problem in the working....

also is it possible i solder the 24 wires on both PS to get a combined output

Run a powered HUB to one of the USBs on the motherboard, and hook up the power to the hub from the new power supply.

Regulated 12v is good if you don't want to fry your components with spikes in your car's electrical system.

Do not soder the ATX connectors to get combined output.

No clue about the refund. Search the forum for your PSU model, there's a thread on it, and its unregualted 12v line.

Wire the two green pins (#14 I think), together. That is the pin that turns on the PSU. That way they turn on together, and shutoff together, but power seperately. Did this for a desktop computer a couple years ago when the Nvidia 6800's just came out. No non-hella expensive power supply for the beast, so we chained 'em together! Works fine.

Ok fine i will try to pin up the green wires...
But just a final question What hapens if i join all the wires...That way I wont need to BIFURCATE the power distribution.. like for powering the USB 2 Hub and system fans and stuff

That's a fancy way of saying split! Anyways, If you join them the amperage I believe will increase on all the lines. Eventually, kablewy.

The safest way would be to just connect the greens, and run them seperately.

If you try it the other way, plug it into a crap mobo just to make sure you don't have a fire starter...
