  • delta electronics psu?

    I recently purchased a hp vectra vl400 to play around with and maybe if i can get it to run at speed, impliment it as my car pc. I did my research online and found that this thing is supposed to have a 200w psu in it. wll, i knock the top off this thing and take a peak inside. what i find is a delta electronics DPS-88AB-2 on that sticker, the specs read:
    OUTPUT +12V == / 2.0A -12V == / .3A
    MAX POWER +5V == / 10A +5S / == 2.0A
    100W +3.3V == / 8.0A

    +5V & +3.3V TOTAL POWER OUTPUT CANNOT EXCEED 70 WATTS.

    so if power out cant exceed 70w, how is this a 200w psu? also, it changes my plans from initially using an inverter, to a more efficient dc-dc psu. anyone have any insight on this? or is there a way i can calculate the output? TIA.

    That's combined total power output for two of the three rails that the PC uses.

    12v x 2a = 24w
    5v x 10a = 50w
    3.3v x 8a = 24.4w

    24w + 50w + 24.4w = 98.4w

    You're right. It's certainly not 200w as advertised.
    And I agree that you should look into a more efficient DC-DC PSU.
