  • Building my first mp3 car box but......

I think that i have eveything picked out for the system, but i have no idea how to power it. I thought that i could just use an inverter from like radioshack or something but then sutting the system down would be an issue. How do i set up a power supply so that the computer will shut down or hibernate when i turn the car off. I have seen threads hear that show how to make you own psu. Is that what i ahve to do to make the computer wokr in the car? and also is there a way to hook it up straight to the batter so that i can still use my cigaret light for my cell phone and stuff like that? and will this drain my batter badly?

What happenend to simple logic ???

What happenend to simple logic ???

Or you just didn't take a second to think about it, or you're just to lazy, or just dumb !

What happenes if I cut the cigarette-lighter-connector.?
-It leaves me with 2 seperate wires.
Will the inverter work when I hook-up these wires to the battery ?
-Yes (if you only work out what is + an -), the wires make the same connection to the battery as if it were making through your cigarette lighter.....

      Q.
Did you find the above complicated ??
If YES... you should go on with your life and try to find something simpler
If NO, and this will be most likely, think about a question for 3 minutes before you post it.. in 9 of the 10 cases you will get yourself the answer.. Computers is just simple logic.. nothing else.....

      EDIT:
Sorry for the big rant you guys.. I just had a very rough week at work, and this just pulled the trigger.. Sorry if I offended someone but to me it's just like I said before. Simple logic, and I can't stand people letting others think for them. Have a great weekend ! I'm sure I need one...

why cant people on here give a reasonable answer to an obvious newby?
What difference does it make if they search or not, if no-one asked any questions then the boards would die out!!
I thought everyone was here to help out not to give peple **** when they ask which to some peple is a simple question.

its not that these are stupid questions... hell everyone has to start at pretty much the same place... but the reason that everyone gets mad at new people is because they ALL ask the same questions when the sign up. how do i power my computer, what is a good lcd, can i use this part to make my mp3 player. most of these general knowledge questions pop up 5 times a week and as a person that frequents the board often, it usually gets frustrating to see the same questions over and over...especially when it pushes other posts down on the list, leading to few replies on other questions.

now... for dc-dc atx power supplies, check out the for sale forum, there is a post that is new (within the last 2 days) that is a dc-dc atx power supply for sale, multiple quantities available, $160 each, shipped anywhere in the world free.

regarding shutdown procedure... suspend to ram, power off with disabled scan disk and enables "power on after power loss", a shutdown controller are all posible solutions, and have been discussed MANY times on the forum.

believe me, you are not the first person to ask questions like these, so there ARE answers on the board...

another thing to trust me on... this board is NICE when it comes to answering newbie questions. i am a member on other forums and there is a checkbox that you MUST check stating that you have searched before posting your question... if you ask a newbie question... you get TRASHED by everyone....

as a public service announcement ... "give a hoot... please use the search button"
or how bout this one... "searching... it does a body good"

Standard netiquette dictates that the forum should be searched if you are a new user before you ask questions. If you wanted a phone number, would you run out into the street and ask everyone passing, or would you just check the phone book?

Hell, most of the answers to these questions can be found by SIMPLY SCROLLING DOWN THE PAGE.

Okay, I will agree with that, but what I don't understand iswhy everyone has to say somehting anytime it happens. Just leave it be abd the guy won't get any answers.

Man.. You guys are absolutely right..
                          Don't be mean to newbies..
                          I was one before...
But at least I put some effort in it and almost got all the answers by reading the member-pages

The fact that you don't know how to solve your prolbem tells me that you didn't put enough effort in it to get these answers... and that's the reason I rant. Not for you being a newbie....
It's just there on the web.. one has just got to search for it.. I have done this to, and if I can use the web, than anyone can.

                          Try this...
There's a newbie coming in.. never posted before.. but got his info out of the forum of membersites..
If he has some difficult question.. he will get helped.. because he has a decent question.. not for being a newbie..

And then.. the last.. but maybe the biggest reason for us ranting and raving about newbies to search.....

If one now searches on something particular.. The results he gets aren't as good as they supposed to be.. Why ?? the board clutters up with messages about a paricular subject, but there's no info in these messages.. So.. the ones who do actually search take longer time to actually get the information they want..
If we keep the board clean.. the search-option works much better..

Like try to search your question.. hooking up an inverter to the battery of your car.. Will leave you with at least 40% of messages with these content.. Search.....

                          Just my 002 cents.
