What motherboards can i use the p1900 with?

I was going to use a laptop (inspiron 4150) but i think its taking a ****ter on me.

now im wondering what can the p1900 be paired up with? i rather not sell the p1900 and buy a new power supply unless nothing works with it.

Oh and if anyone can help... here is the thread to the laptop problem.

    Thanks!

The P1900 can be paired with a lot of miniPCs like the Aopen Pandora or Mac Mini.
Basically, any PC that requires only one voltage input (usually a mini PC) of 18, 19 or 20v (I believe) can be used with the P1900... As long as the power draw of the mini PC is not greater than the output capability of the P1900.

so are you saying that i can use the p1900 with a pc that takes a 12v? the p1900 puts out primary output as 18,19, or 20v and secondary as 12v. Im using the secondary 12v for the lilliput already.

if the pc takes a 12v can i use the primary output on the p1900 (which is 18v, 19v, or 20v) or do i have to use the 12v secondary output on the p1900 since the pc is a 12v? Can i use the 12v to power both the lilliput and the pc by using a splitter or splicing? i know the addon p5v can be split to power say a USB hub and an external soundcard.

And that's why I'm not saying you can use it with a PC that requires 12v.

What do you think will happen if you push 18v (or more!) into something that's expecting to receive 12v?

lol... thats what i was thinking. Im no expert when it comes to these things but i sure as hell didnt know for sure so thats why i wanted to make sure hehe.

          thanks for the help though.

one thing, im not very familiar with power supplies such as the opus or i think its the m2 atx or something like that. Can those power more than 1 thing? like a carputer and a lilliput on the same 12v output? does it have a 5v output like how the carnetix have? If not, maybe i will keep the carnetix for my lilliput and other devices. Also, can i split the power on the secondary 12v output by splicing or getting a splitter?

i need to be able to power the lilliput and pc preferably with 1 power supply.

Yes, they can power multiple devices, so long as the devices don't d4raw more power than the PSU can provide.
If there's a question about multiple PSUs, I would err on the side of caution and choose the one that can output more power.

Many people are using an ATX-compatible PSU to power a PC, external optical drive, USB hub and screen.

I suggest you research the power draw of the PC hardware you're considering, as well as all the components you think you might need to power from the PSU before you make a PSU decision.

will i be able to use the carnetix p1900 with these?

im going to need to power my lilliput screen (12v) and a 5v usb hub off the carnetix too or if i can use the power supply that comes with it to power everything, that would be great

                ok... i just bought this...

                http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=170076358130

can i use the p1900 with this setup?

it has takes a 19v adapter so can i hack the ends off and then hook the leads to the +and - of the p1900 19v primary output? how would i hook up the startup/shutdown acpi connectors? do i just hook it up to the powerbutton on the pc case or where the button hits to short circuit and turn on the pc>?

Yes, it will work just fine. In fact, that's one of the exmple systems that's listed int he P1900 manual.

                      one last question...

if i wanted to go with an internal dvd drive, one of the ones listed below:

                      http://cgi.ebay.com/NEC-ND-6100A-SLI...QQcmdZViewItem
                      http://cgi.ebay.com/PANASONIC-UJ-840...QQcmdZViewItem

                      http://cgi.ebay.com/Slim-form-factor...QQcmdZViewItem

will those work with the system? do i need any adapters to make that fit?

Yes, you'll need a laptop-to-IDE adapter like this one: http://store.mp3car.com/ProductDetai...Code=ADT%2D008

I recommend a slot-load drive, since the trays in teh tray-load units tend to be fragile. Hit a bump while loading a disk, and you've got a useless optical drive....
