  • M4-ATX hookup, complete noob first timer, Help.

    As per the thread title.

up until now I have been using an AC PSU and inverter. inverter died (and was taking up room) so I purchased an M4-ATX PSU.
Reading the install guide has confused the crap outta me so if anyone can dumb this down for mew it would be greatly appreciated.

J6 - Amp thump harness, what actually connects to this, or how does this connect to my amps ?

J8 - Is there supposed to be a harness for this, if not how is this connect/configured ?

Iam sure there will be further questions at a later date but firstly I want to actually get the thing powered up.

    Thanks in advance,

    Fondles.

this prevents the amps from turning on for a certain amount of time to try to prevent all the speakers from popping from the soundcard chip initializing. it is not always needed-- if you don't have a pop, i don't think you need it at all. if you do have a speaker pop on startup, then you would just connect the acc wire from the amps to pin #8.

yes, there should be a small harness with 2 wires in it for this. this just connects to the 'Power' button pins-- the 'front panel connections' as it is referred to on most motherboards.

this connection simulates you manually pressing the power button on the front of your computer, and is what allows the psu to take over the startup and shutdown procedures and make it automatic.

Nice one, was what I was thinking but needed confirmation. Thanks.

Hopefully will have the speaker/amp/powersupply side of the install done this weekend.

What gauge wire should I run run B+/B- to the PC PSU ?

Just to bump this back up.
Should have this wired this coming weekend hopefully.

Running off pin 8 to power on the amps, I have 3 amps. Will "pin 8" provide enough power for 3 amps or should I use it as the trigger for a 4 pin relay and swtich the amps from there ?

try wiring pin 8 to power the amps first, but don't be completely surprised if you need a relay. i don't think you will, but it is always possible..

OK, wow im super bumping! I am use to the OPUS which had a line for accessories. I noticed the M4-ATX (which I ordered doesn't). So it is safe to just hook up a relay? or in my case 4 of them? I have one relay for a inverter, one for 7 devices, one for the remaining devices, and one for my screens in the front.
