  • m4-atx to power minix neo x5

    Hi all,

I hope this is the correct place to post this question. I have a Minix Neo X5 and am considering using it as a carpc. One of the hurdles to tackle is power. I already have a m4-atx from an old build and would love to not have to purchase another power supply. The minix specs say

DC 5V, 3A adapter included (NEO X5 required less than 1A to operate)
Is it possible for the m4-atx to deliver this power to the minix and if so, what would be the best router to achieve this. I already have the m4-atx powering a lilliput 669GL (although at this point I forget how exactly, its been awhile).

    Thanks for any replies.

It can, yes, but it's overkill for what your needs, in terms of both power output and price.

If you already have the M4, then you'll want to tap a HDD power connector for 5v output and you'll probbbly have to short the pins on the 20-pin ATX connector to fool the M4 so it reacts the same as when plugged into the 20-pin PSU connector on an ATX motherboard.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

This is what I was thinking would be the best bet. Yes, it is overkill by a lot however I already have the M4.
