    I purchased the David Navone N-66A POP eliminator and its worth every penny.
    A bit pricey at $24.00 for the premium model. But it allows you fully adjustable turn on delay of your amps allowing for pop free usage. It is very small and simple to hook up.
    3 Wires: Ground, output to amp, input from computer (remote turn on lead)

    If you are not good with relays and soldering, this is the item for you!

      What IC is this item based on, the 555?

            now if someone told me how to wire the pot, relay and cap i'd be gratefull.
            and the capicity of the cap

              I second that... Just someone please post a schematic for this...

                here is a diagram..
                some one else can work out the figures for the resistor and cap,, i forget how to.

                it works by the resistor limiting the input voltage so the cap takes a few seconds (depending on resisotr size) to reach 12+ and when it reaches 12volts (or the switching volting of relay) it will turn on the amp.


                EDIT: doing some reading up on caps to try an remember how to work all this out... seems like a 10K R with a 220uF cap will give a 2sec delay?

                but someone else please check this b4 u all go out and buy anything.. i could be very wrong

                  I think I'l have to build my cheapo SDC using old car relays and caps etc, not everyone has pic programmers etc, and sometimes a simple way is best.

                  I will have it on here tomorro(time of year permitting, keep getting visitors), then you can see how I have done it and then build it the same or modify to suit your own setup.

                  I want it to:

                  1) have a switch for off/ign/full on.
                  2) turn on amp after pc (3 seconds delay)
                  3) turn off amp as PC shuts down, so no shutdown thump
                  4) connect to inverter
                  5) connect to atx power button
                  6) connect to com port like ghetto ups/sdc


                  It will use relays, the cheap 4 or 5 connection ones as used in cars, so easy to source from old cars at the scrap yard, makes it almost free.

                    There's just this one thing that doesn't work out for me:
                    I need the +12V that goes through the Relay (after it's been activated) to quickly go back to 0V. Basically, I need it to be momentary.
                    Do you know if Momentary SPDT Relays exist?
                    Another option is if there's a way to stop the current before the coil after the Relay "fires."
                    Oh yeah, and then the capacitor has to be a quick-discharge type; so that after the Trigger is off, the circuit could be turned back on in a matter of seconds.

                      If you run your output from the relay through another capacitor (not sure what size) it should go to 12V when first enabled and then go back to 0V. Basically capacitors allow changing voltage to pass through and constant voltage is blocked.

                              Only problem with a delay is that your computer will

                              1) sometimes boot up faster and then your delay is worthless.

                              2) boot slower and then there is a delay to hear music... worthless again


                              It will however always clear the turn on pop but the loading windows pop by most sound cards will sometimes work and sometimes not. I think the best way to fix this problem for windows anyway is to use that amp-ctrl service that when windows comes up it shorts pins on the com port which you run to a relay that gives your amps the 12v remote turn on.
