  • Centrafuse 4 aagh!!!!!

ok im pretty close to slitting my wrists over centrafuse 4... its so frustrating to setup use etc...

i add my folders of music through the advanced settings and then when i go into music player nothing is there.... i have to navigate to the folder and play it from there.... artists dont come up with anything..... can anyone help me with this.... i just bought the bloody program and im ready to write it off....

weather is displayed in farenheight which is useless to me and there seems to be about 5 plugins in the whole market... i can only hope that when i get my bluetooth dongle that it will work and my phone will connect easily.... is this to much to ask???

also how do you install new skins...

    thanks in advance,
    Tom

    Tom,

You'll likely find more information and assitance n the Centrafuse forums here: http://forums.fluxmedia.net/
If you're not seeing artist or albums, you may need to re-import your library, or it may be that SQLCE 3.5 didn't get installed properly and you'll need to do that manually.

The weather issue is a problem from Weather.com. If you put in Sydney, you get the values in centigrade, but put in Cairn, and you get it in farenheit. I have no idea why that is, but the app just reads the data it's given. There is no conversion going on.

Again, all these questions are probably better asked over onthe other forum.

    Cheers!

Welcome to CF. I feel that the weak app market will be the downfall of CF, which is a real shame. If you search around a bit, you can find other apps, but they mostly don't work on recent CF releases and the authors are not willing to update them, so stick to what you find in the built-in app market.

I've not installed 4.0 yet, but 3.6 worked fine for me. You do need to setup play-lists to get to your music in a reasonable fashion.

I can't help you with the F vs. C. I use both scales every day, so don't much care what is displayed to me.

Hi Tom, with the Muusic folder issue. Do you have 1 hdd for O/S and 1 hdd for music/media? If you do, go into advanced settings and delete "C/MY MUSIC"(or similar to) folder from the list so you just have the other HDD with music. CF uses C/Music folder by default. So if your music is not on "C"drive then delete it from CF list. Cheers

Bluetooth works good with CF 3.6. CF 4.0 should be much easier. Remember to not install driver software that comes with your bluetooth dongle as CF has already installed the drivers. If you do, it wont work in CF.

I'm actually impressed with the CF market, its not easy to get a group of individual developers to have all their stuff hosted at one location. I think app market is the most RIGHT thing about CF right now.

To clarify, I love the market, I just think that it has not hit critical mass yet. Too few apps means too few customers, which means less desire to work on apps.

I'd like to see CF somehow support the market better- prizes for the best new app (each month, as measured by downloads), top-tier support for anyone who has an app in the market, removal of the "test $ app" that has been sitting in there for months, etc...

The iPad is massively popular because of the app market, which is why I say that the apps will make or break CF (IMHO).

Yeah, but it's not like the millions of iPad owners have car computers, and there really aren't a lot of apps needed for a car pc, so I don't think apps or a marketplace is going to make or break CF.

Maybe you haven't noticed people who are paying customers of CF, who go to RR. Why do they do it? Apps.

I'm considering the same, but I agree that I'm in the minority.

People switch all the time. I switched to RR for a while, and I ended up back with CF for a lot of different reasons. I've noticed quite a few people migrate back to CF after trying the other apps out there. It's all about what works for you. If CF works, use it. If it doesn't, move on to something else.

I had a look at RR but the interface on cf is so much cleaner... if i'm going to have a professional looking setup with my screen then I don't want to ruin it with RR.... Think i have most of it soughted now, guess the initial setup of any frnt end you choose is a headache...

Is centrafuse 4 better, i notice a lot of people still have 3.6 ??

4.0 was just released, and the upgrade isn't free. That's why you don't see a lot of people with 4.0. It has bug fixes and a few new things, but honestly you can live without it right now. You can always download the trial and install it on another pc to see if you like it.

I see statements similar to this about Centrafuse (and other software) and it always makes me wonder what "a lot" is, and how they got to that amount. In the case of Centrafuse, that statement is only valid if you actually know how many people use Centrafuse and what the breakout is for the versions.

So let's get some perspective. If, for the sake of arguement, there are 1000 registered CF users and 10 of them complain about CF4.0, is that a lot? Does the 1% that chooses to express their dissatisfaction outweigh the 99% that don't?
