  • Need info from OBDII users

I need to know what is wanted from the OBD section of CENTRAFUSE. Any suggestions on how you would like it integrated into the interface and also what you want displayed. Basically give me all suggestions for everything you would want included in the OBD support.

It would be cool to see different screen modes in the OBD, it. so you could have one for "ordanary use" with large Speedometer, and small rpm, running time and other. and one for Racing with a Gigant RPM and, charge pressure, engine load and other. <-- also in this mode it would be COOL to have a configuable "shift light" so when you hit a certain RPM the screen would turn all red or something...

how about speed camera warnings for the uk too? like if your speed is over 30mph, and your approaching a coordinate on a POI file, it flashes red, this should probably be a GPS feature though thinking about it.. hehe.

yea, odb id like to see a speed guage on the normal screen, and on a specialist ODB screen have things like a bigger speedo, rev guage, and stuff like that.

      thanks,
      tom.

Maximum sensor data over trip (max speed, max rpm, max engine throttle, etc) with option to record.

Comparing GPS speed to OBD speed on screen...

"Black box" if you get in an accident, option to store previous 5 mins of detailed activity...

Graphing/Gauges/Table data. (Graph shows Sensor X over time (like RPM, including 2 dimensional like Speed X RPM on a graph / Gauges are realtime / Table shows Current/Max/Min for a particular sensor)

Dunno, these are my basic concerns I'd say...

Hmm, option to send OBD data to an e-mail address? (So if you are away from home and have a problem you can send stuff to your mechanic?) ok this is pretty useless I think, but its a novelty...ehheh

I have always thought that the Nissan Skyline data is represented quite well:

integration with the rest of centrafuse so only certain functions work when the car is in motion. ie DVD is disabled when the car is moving.

I would like to see the speed on the bottom of the screen (from the gps) and CENTRAFUSE should just have a OBD2 button TO launch external software like digimoto
                4G64 5 SPEED

Why disable DVD when driving ? - If you don't want to watch DVD while driving, then don't - god i hate when someone tells me what to do....

then on topic: - Yes the skyline is a very nice example of a good display.

I hate it when innocent people die because some a-hole didn't have the sense to turn it off while driving.

Before this spirals out of control, I'd like to suggest having an overhead view of an outline of a car w/ images of each major system. Anything that indicates out of band data would be color coded appropriately (eg, the transmission might be yellow flashing). If you tapped a component like the engine, it would bring up live data of each of the readings from engine components and show what they were. If you tapped the exhaust line, it would bring up a display showing O2 sensor, catalytic converter status, etc.

For cars with CANBUS, you could have a lot of detailed info of all different systems.

Any OBDII frontend would need to have a method for filling in car/manufacturer specific OBD codes.

OK you can lock it out if you want, but no, I have dvd running on back screens and such and I dont want it locked out in my car, so no developer can force that (especially since not all frontends lock it out!)

It doesn't hurt to have it as an option. I would turn it off in case I get harrassed by cop about it. It's illegal here to have a system installed that allows video playback in the front seat while driving. This way I can demostrate it works like it should if need be.

I would like to think that NO developer posting software in this forum would automatically lockout video/dvd or any other functionality. Having the functionality is one thing, but having it and locking us out is a WASTE of everyone's time.

However, I do believe having the choice/option to implement a "lockout" of certain functions IF WE choose to turn them on/off as part of our setups, is a welcomed addition.

                            my two-and-half cents.

Just put it in as an option.... it should be easy enough...

Especially since destinator frontend has communication with other apps like phoco (If I remember correctly), ti shouldnt be difficult to get the speed to inside centrafuse, then you can have multiple function lockout at different speeds! :P
