  • External temperature in Centrafuse?

Did a search, and did not come back with anything. I'm suprised!

Anyhow, is there a clean way to embed external temperature information into CF? (Assuming I have a sensor installed, and wired to serial port or similar)

I don't just want a 3rd party app display this within CF (as an 'external app'), but rather, would like this to temp reading to be fully embedded into the CF interface. Perhaps in the top portion somewhere, for every screen.

The only way I can think of this working, is for CF to add full support for one of the more common temp sensors out there. I think frodoplayer does this?

I have added to CF 1.3 the ability to read and display all system information, which includes CPU temp... I do not currently have anything in place to read external temperature sensors... I have no idea what sensors people are using and how you communicate with them, but if they are serial then there shouldn't be anything to it... I will look into it after 1.3 is released...

Thanks David. I'll do some research for you on what the most popular solutions are. I believe they are indeed Serial port solutions...

            David, resurrecting this thread...

I researched, and it seems that the KIT145 temperature kit is the way to go. Some folks are using that in RoadRunner.

Any chance a Plugin could be written for this? it is a serial port RS232 device, and it is self powered. It sends a straight text data feed, and there is an SDK available. Seems like this can be had for less than $50 shipped!

            I plan on purchasing one.

Actually i dont see any reason why this should be in centrafuse. I think this belongs in weather plugin.

Yeah, could be. I never said it should be in CF. I actually asked whether it could be *in a plugin*.

Yes, weather plugin might be the right one.

and I will be including the source code to the weather plugin with the SDK download, so it could be added...

Where in the CF interface is this information? I can't find it.
