848x480 depends on your hardware... but it doesnt look good on the 7inch screens most of us use.

I think the new version will come with a 800x480 skin, otherwise you must convert all the images and skin files manually

Any ideas for putting a PC in this? :)

CF 1.3 can run in any resolution... I have run it in 320x200 up to 1280x1024... It dynamically resizes all fonts, images, and coordinates to make any skin work in any resolution. The method it uses for image resizing provides good results...

If you're using a 7" screen (like the xenarc or lilliput), and you're running it at 800x480, be happy. You're done. That's the native resolution of the screen.

Some people use the 848x480 resolution because their video card drivers will not support custom resolutions. But that is not optimal. 800x480 looks ways better.

ive heard from many veterans here that if you can by no means get 800x480 on your card, go with 800x600 and use the stretched skin rather than use 840x480 since horizontal stretch looks way worse than vertical stretch.

but *** bosskong stated, since you are already at 800x480, ust stay there. you hit the sweet spot.

Of the 3 main options, I still like 800x600 best on my Lilliput 7". 800x480 is too small to use explorer when you need to.

What resoulution is recommended in 1.2 (or 1.3 when it comes out) for a screen that is naitive 640x480? I tried 800x600 on my Lilliput 8" and it looks kinda fuzzy, and the default 800x480 cuts off the lower right corner of the screen.

Your monitor should be 800x600 native. That's what you should use. Try setting the refresh rate higher (display->settings->advanced->monitor->change 65 Hz to 75 Hz or 85 Hz)

Edit: Oh wait, I guess CF 1.2 doesn't have an 800x600 skin, so it might look weird. I guess you will have to wait for 1.3.

Problem is, I cant use anything but 60hz refresh, since the VIA unichrome drivers don't support it. The refresh rate is locked to 60hz. Has David said what resoultions the skins for 1.3 will be made available in? I hope there's a 640x480 version.

1.3 skins will be dynamically scalabe, no seperate skins required for different seperate resolutions.
