is there a way to play DVDs that are stored on the hard disk with the integrated DVD player in CF 1.4?

The only I found was to put a movie's directory on the root of the C drive and rename it to VIDEO_TS so that CF loads it

my movies are stored in C:\Movies\movie_name, with no VIDEO_TS folder

the "playlist" button in the DVD player doesn't get me anywhere

Why not try using AutoGK (www.autogk.net) to re-encode them to XviD or similar?

This is how most DVD applications work...they'll play the files as a DVD Video disc if they are stored in a Video_TS folder.

I wrote an app that lets you toggle the current dvd. Basically it just moves the dvd you select to the C:\Video_TS folder. When you select another DVD, it moves the files back to where they came from. It has the blue ice look also. If your interested in giving it a go, let me know.

Why don't you set it up as C:\MovieName\Video_TS ? That works for me in PowerDVD.

I still say just re-encode to XviD, then you can fit more on your drive.

Aren't we talking in the Centrafuse thread?

According to the "navigation bar" we are...
"MP3Car.com Forums > Mp3Car Technical > Software & Software Development > Front Ends > Centrafuse > Play DVDs stored on hard drive"

As for the problem, I'd do what Stevieg says, encode it to xvid.
Unless you're using a +20" you don't need the resolution of a DVD.

If encoding still isn't your cup of tea, then make an image(bin/iso) of the DVD(files) and then mount it in DaemonTools.
Centrafuse will see it as an ordinary dvd-disc and it'll play just fine.
DaemonTools do support command line mounting of image-files so you wouldn't need to copy any files like JasonK is doing.
              daemon.exe -mount 0,"c:\My Images\nameofimage.cue".

              /M

Good idea Maximus, didn't think of that

As for re-encoding to Xvid, I've got a 160Gb Hard-disk in-car, so space isn't my main concern. Plus I really hate MPEG4, but thanks anyway for the suggestion

I still think it would be a good thing to be able to browse DVD files in hard disk, as PowerDVD and others do

Keep up the good work guys, CF is really the most professionnally built front end to date!

that "playlist" button simply should take you to the DVD menu, if it has one... I don't currently support playing DVD's from the HD.. using daemon tools it the best solution for now...

You may want to check out this:
                    http://ratdvd.ca/

It compresses the whole DVD, menus included, into a single playable file.

try embedding Nero Showtime in the CF Apps window.
Showtime will play DVDs from folders without having to do anything fancy.
