  • I just had an awesome idea for CF! Auto-equalization

    How about this...

    1) You create a custom equalizer setting, and save it with the name of a given 'Genre'. So for example, I save it as 'Instrumental Rock'.
    2) Each time a song plays, CF checks to see if the ID3 Genre tag matches any existing EQ setting (by name). If it matches, it switches to that EQ setting automatically. If it does not match, it uses a 'Default' EQ setting (also configurable).

Furthermore, I would make this optional... something along the sides of a checkbox called "Auto-EQ Switching" in the preferences dialogs.

Anyone find this useful? I imagine coding something like this would be pretty trivial since all the major components are already there!

Please post your opionions on this

this is sort of along my idea of storing "tweaked" eq settings in each album dir. sounds nice, but would still like see fine-tuned album-specific eq settings saved.

Do you guys really use the equalizer? I'd rather skip the song if it doesn't sounds well.. I mean it's a nice feature, but I never use it.

I only used the equalizer to set my system to sound like I wanted it in my car... It's a must have feature for that reason... I don't use it for changing the sound for individual music...

I gave full access to get and set all 10 bands of the EQ in the SDK and you have access to the playing album, artist, title information... so a plugin that does this kind of thing could easily be written...

              David,

I don't think i've ever been so excited for a new piece of software to be released. Just the ideas that have floated around since 1.4 was released, just makes driving my morning and afternoon commute that much more enjoyable. In the end, isn't that what its about? Making your driving experience enjoyable? This software has made this hobby of ours, at least for me, such a worthwhile continual project.

I just wanted to thank you again for your work. It's brought about so many ideas from others in this forum, and it just shows that when a well built, well designed application is put together, it brings the community so much closer together for the continued development of said application.

Justintime: sorry for hijacking your thread, but i just really had to say all that.

I couldn't agree more with Defsquad. CentraFuse is the one reason I made the jump, when originally debating whether I wanted to take on the project. As soon as I demo'd CF, I was hooked.

                I'm almost done now!!!

@david: Regarding the SDK, is it possible to load a pre-defined eq-setting that one
has set up and saved before hand for i.e. "Instrumental Rock"?

That way the settings could be user-configurable, rather than hard-coded into the plugin.

                  Cheers

well.. the SDK has the base options to get and set the EQ settings... you would easily just read XML files in the plugin and have configs... the programmer could design how he/she read presets in whatever way they wanted... creating a new XmlDocument, loading my preset files, reading the values with a simple XPath, then set the options if they wanted to do it like I do...

In other words, if I set up and save preset EQ settings I would be able to load them using your SDK?
Atleast that is how I understand it. Haven't actually looked at the preset files how they
are put together but as long as there is a possibility everythings "A-OK"

David, thank you for this wonderful piece of software.
As soon as CF is released commercially, I'll be one of the first to buy it

                      Cheers
